Three Tips On Using a Fitness Blog To Attract New Clients

Posted By Casey Kaldal

3-tips-fitness-blogTake a tour around the Internet. It seems as if everyone is running a blog. But how many of these blogs are actually making money for their owners? If you guessed “nearly none of them,” you’re correct. But there are ways to blog for profit. And if you’re running your own personal-training blog, you should be aware of three tips on using a fitness blog to attract new clients.

New clients, after all, are the key to running any successful business. And any tool that can help you bring in these new clients is one that you can’t afford to ignore.

This is why it’s important to start and maintain a fitness blog. If done right, a blog can help you grow your business.

#1 – Deliver Valuable Content Consistently
The first step to running a successful blog is to fill it with interesting and informative content.
If you’re running a fitness blog, you might write about the best exercises for senior citizens or the most effective ways to recover from a sports injury. You might decide to include tips on eating well or your picks for the most effective strength-building exercises. Make sure that whatever you post benefits your readers in some way.

The key, though, is to keep your blog updated on a consistent basis. You don’t have to add new content every day, but you should post new stories or tips on your fitness blog at least three times a week. The only thing worse than not having your own fitness blog is having one that you haven’t updated in a month. Potential clients will look at an abandoned blog as unprofessional, and that’s never the impression you want your business to give.

#2 – Drive Traffic To Your Fitness Blog
The second tip for a successful fitness blog is to make sure that people actually read it.

Potential clients can’t read about your thoughts on the best cardiovascular exercises if they don’t know that your blog exists. Make sure, then, that you actively promote your blog.

Create a facebook group, invite your friends, and point them to your blog. Post links to your blog from your facebook fan page or group.

Tell your friends and family members about it. Include your blog’s Web address on your business cards and in your advertisements. You can even post flyers in the windows of local coffee shops, bookstores or other small businesses promoting your blog.

A good rule of thumb is that you should spend even more time promoting your blog as you do writing for it. After all, the best content isn’t going to help you find new clients if your blog doesn’t get any visitors.

#3 – Make Your Blog Presentable
Finally, make sure that your blog is professionally written. This doesn’t mean that you have to hire a professional writer to ghostwrite your blog posts. But it does mean that your site shouldn’t contain misspellings, typos or incorrect punctuation. You may not think that these grammatical mistakes matter, but the visitors to your site will. It’s impossible not to read a blog post filled with misspellings without thinking that the business owner behind it is unprofessional.

A blog filled with well-written, error-free copy showcases a business in its best possible light. As a fitness center owner striving to build a client base, this is the impression that you want to give.

Running a successful blog isn’t always easy. It does take some work. But if you follow these three tips on using a fitness blog to attract new clients, all this work will pay off in new business.

I totally agree with your 3 tips. I just started my own blog with only 3 posts so far. I am trying to post 3 days a week with entertaining and educational content. In just one week I picked up one client from my blog. So I would suggest to any fitness professional out there that is looking to stimulate new business to start blogging. It’s a great way for current clients, past clients, and prospects to stay in touch with your pt business
