Teaching a Benefit Bootcamp or Fitness Class for Haiti
You know you want to be able to give more to support the relief efforts in Haiti – well, doing a donation based benefit fitness class or bootcamp is a mighty way to help.
The devastation is heartbreaking. The country is so impoverished and was struggling enough without another disaster, and now there is so much to be done there.
Yet at the same time, Haiti has a very real chance to become something more than what it was before. There is a high probability that the focus of the world and commitment from so many leaders and organizations will lead to great improvements in infrastructure and other areas of life for this country and people.
That’s what happened with New Orleans and Hurricane Katrina – great tragedy led to new schools, improved levies and pump houses, and a shiny new roof for the Superdome that just thundered the Saints into a NFC championship. New Orleans is back, baby! Yet there’s still a lot of work to be done there even four years later.
It’s gonna be a long road to recovery for Haiti, and massive amounts of funds are needed immediately and as the years roll by for the country and its people to make a comeback.
They need your help.
And you have something that not everyone has: you have the ability to offer your services in a fundraising effort to benefit Haiti. Sure, you’ll be working an hour or so for free, but think of how rewarding it is to contribute to such a cause. How does that feel?
Some Ideas for Setting Up A Haiti Benefit Fitness Class
As a yoga instructor, I’m teaching a by donation benefit class for Haiti, where all the proceeds will go to a charity of my choice.
Depending on your area of expertise, you could do a fitness class, a bootcamp session, or even a series where part or all of the proceeds go toward the renewal of Haiti. You can work the pricing any way you want – charging a set price or by donation.
You could even auction off a free private training session with you to the highest bidder, letting people know that you’re giving the whole shebang to your-organization-of-choice.
Extra Motivation
One of the other things you may want to think about is bringing a sense of meaning into your training, dedicating the efforts of the training to the people of Haiti. You’ll want to read your clients, but for some people this can be hugely effective.
For instance, when I set a theme in my yoga class and tell people that we’re going to do the class for the people of Haiti, the students give everything they’ve got and find out their capacity is more than they realized.
Just like an athlete that has a really important game or competition brings more effort and ability to their training because of it, you can coach your clients to discover they have more stamina than they thought when they dedicate their efforts to something that means a lot. Like helping the people of Haiti be strong, or sending courage to the people who are there helping them.
What’s Your Contribution?
So what do you say? Are you inspired to get something going; to trade your time and considerable skills in order to contribute to the rebuilding of Haiti?
It means so much when we all focus on helping each other. When Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, it brought the local and world community together like never before. I know – I live down here part time, as my family is from New Orleans. It’s a place like no other, and actually has strong ties to Haiti.
With everyone’s support Haiti has a real chance of not only recovering, but improving its quality of life. Your contribution makes a difference!
