Power of Charisma (Being Seen as a Leader)
We know there are leaders and followers. As a personal trainer, it’s vital to your business to be seen as a leader. Your clients must want to follow you so they will reach their goals and be successful. You need them to reach their goals so they will pass along referrals to build your business. But do you have the charisma to pull it off?
Some people are born with charisma. Others have to work at it. The good news for the latter is that you can attain charisma and be a great leader even if you weren’t oozing with charisma at birth.
The first step in honing your charisma is finding full confidence within yourself and your products or services. When you believe in yourself (and your business), others will believe in you, too.
Develop your listening skills. You will learn a lot about the people you are working with or for. People like a good listener. Add an occasional head nod when listening to let your client know you understand them. Charisma involves the ability to attract, and then lead many people. People who feel like you understand them are more willing to follow your direction.
When you listen to your clients, you learn what they want and need. What you learned from listening to them will help you inspire them. Once you have sparked their enthusiasm, you must fan the flame and keep it ablaze.
It’s very important to be honest and sincere when speaking. If someone asks a question for which you don’t have an immediate answer, say so. Offer to find the correct information and get back with the asker. It is so important to get their contact and follow up.
When talking with a client or potential client, be sure to smile. The simple facial gesture shows that you are friendly and want to help them. It’s much easier to follow a friend than a total stranger!
Building charisma takes practice, but your Personal Trainer Business (and yourself) will benefit when you take the time to hone these skills. Practice the skills – don’t fake them. Others will see that you are a phony. You want to build true charisma, not put up a front!

Motivation and communication: that’s the name of the game for leaders. It applies to all. The thing is, some people tend to boss around too much that they steadily lose the confidence of their teammates. If morale is down, the battle is lost.
