Personal Trainer Jobs On the Rise
America is one fat nation, and that’s great news for people looking for personal trainer jobs. The heavier Americans get, the more frequently they turn to personal trainers to help them shed those pounds.
This is a trend that you can expect to continue. After all, the vast majority of people out there aren’t getting skinnier any time soon.
Just look at some of the rather depressing facts by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: 67 percent of U.S. residents older than 20 can be considered overweight or obese. A total of 34 percent are obese.
As a personal trainer, you have to look at those numbers and think one thing: new business.
If everyone was already thin and in great shape, there’d be a lot of personal trainers out of work. But this isn’t going to happen any time soon. The Centers for Disease Control also reports that adolescents from the age 12 to 19 are struggling with weight problems, too. According to the stats, 18 percent of these kids are overweight. Even children from the ages of 6 to 11 aren’t immune; the statistics say that 15 percent of them are overweight.
You have the chance to help these people meet their weight-loss goals. But to do this, you have to create fitness programs that appeal to a wide variety of overweight clients of all ages and income levels.
There is help. You can sign up for my Fitness Business Course. This crash course gives personal trainers all the information they need to build a successful, thriving fitness business, one that will allow you to earn the greatest possible income in the shortest amount of time.
This is important, because personal training is one of the few careers – fueled by the sheer number of people struggling to lose weight – that is expected to grow in the next few years.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics says that fitness worker jobs are expected to increase 27 percent from 2006 to 2016. That growth rate is terrific. The government is basically saying that the number of fitness jobs will rise faster than the job growth of the vast majority of other industries.
The government points to the growing number of health clubs, gyms and fitness centers as the reason for this. Of course, we all know why so many of these new health clubs are opening, right? Yes, people just can’t seem to stop gaining weight.
I’m not shy about telling people that personal training can be a great career. You get paid to help people. It is a lot of hard work, and you do have to be passionate about fitness to succeed. You need to be a good marketer to attract clients. And to really thrive, you’ll need to earn your personal trainer certification.
But if you’re willing to put in the hard work, a career as a personal trainer can provide a steady stream of income long into the future. Just think how calming it will be to work in a field that is actually adding workers rather than laying them off.
