Posted By Casey Kaldal On March 29th, 2010

High Quality SupplementsWhy is a proven strength training program right for you? You are already committed to working out regularly. Your body looks defined and even muscular in some areas, but you can’t seem to find that extra edge that allows you to gain that last bit of muscle, have a rock solid core, or look perfectly symmetrical.

At times, you may even feel lethargic or not as focused. It is as though you have hit a plateau and your hours at the gym are not giving you that final transformation.

Strength Training Pitfalls: Reasons Why Your Current Routine may not be Working?

Strength Train All of Your Muscles

Are you really strength training all your muscles or just focusing on select muscle groups? An intense strength training program that focuses on all your muscles will give you the body you want. Be sure to concentrate on all your core muscles, not just the ones you want to look ripped.

Your back and muscles that support your spine affect your overall posture. A strong core and consistent program incorporating all muscle groups:

• Improves your appearance by making your movement more fluid and your appearance more symmetrical.
• Helps your physique exude a natural sex appeal and all your muscles will be stronger, leaner, and have more endurance.
• Minimizes injuries.
• Makes you more energetic.
• Will make you see results and have a more positive, confident attitude. Read more…

Personal Trainer Business: Massaging Your Pricing for More Cash

Posted By Casey Kaldal On March 25th, 2010

money-from-skyThe old saying is that you have to spend money to earn money. However, you probably already spend plenty on your business.

It turns out that you don’t have to spend money to earn money; you just have to charge a little more of it for your services.

Balance customer satisfaction with minor revenue adjustments. If you make your pricing changes small enough, clients will barely notice. And yet, watch how quickly your personal trainer business income can increase with that barely noticeable price hike.

Evaluating the Market for Pricing Optimization

Are your personal trainer business offerings priced right for the market? Can your market handle a pricing adjustment?

This is an important question. You need to compare your pricing to your competitors. If you’ve outpriced everyone by a long shot, you don’t really have much room to manipulate your pricing. Already you probably have less clients that your competition.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing, because your competitors have to work more hours for the same money, but you might be making less overall. That’s because it’s hard to get clients when you’re the most expensive act in town. Only the clients who are looking for the absolute best quality, service, and fitness results will bring their business to you.

Breaking Outside the Fitness Marketing Box – Be Creative

Posted By Casey Kaldal On March 23rd, 2010

fun-fitness-ladyFolks, we’re in a recession. And while I’m sure you’re tired of hearing about “these difficult economic times” and “our struggling economy,” you have to face facts if you want to make the rent. Unemployment is at ten percent in the United States. That means that only ninety percent of people can afford your services.

But ninety percent is still more than you think. You’re only tapping a tiny fraction of that population, so the trick is to maximize exposure, and to reach out to clients you haven’t been able to before.

The Flying Burpee Workout

Posted By Casey Kaldal On March 21st, 2010

Please don't try this at home unless you are a Certified Personal Trainer Specialized in Burpee Flying

It’s Sunday, I was supposed to go to the gym.

For whatever reason I didn’t go. Have you ever done this before?

Another Parade in New Orleans, colder weather after a shorts and t-shirt week, too big of a breakfast…

A buddy of mine recently re-acquainted me with good old fashion burpees.

Remember those ones you did in grade school?

So… as lazy as I felt today I devised my Flying Burpee Routine.

Actually nothing at all to do flying, but this picture cracks me up, what do you think, ninja training?

Here Is The Workout

You are going start the time and do 10 burpies. Every minute on the minute you doing another round of bumpies, 1 less than last time, until you get to 1.

As soon as you do the last one, do 10 more for good luck. Stick to the “on the minute” as a guideline, but do it as fast as you can with perfect form.

This took me 6 minutes and 36 seconds and was a great quick pick me up.

You workout will look something like this.

  • 10 Burpees (41 seconds, good form, not to fast, not to slow, jump as high as you can)
  • 19 secs rest (Start on 1:00)
  • 9 Burpees (39 seconds)
  • 21 secs rest (Start on 2:00)
  • 8 Burpess …
  • (take shorter rests as needed, go for time)
  • 2 Burpees
  • 1 Burpee
  • Rest
  • 10 Burpees

And, if you can’t handle my flying burpee workouts, or it’s too easy, here is the Sexy Chick Workout which is way too hard for me.

Which workout did you like better?

Which one was harder?

Give it a 10 for 10 or thumbs up!

Promote Nutritional Supplements Just in Time for Summer

Posted By Casey Kaldal On March 19th, 2010

money-pillsThe end of this dreary winter weather is finally in sight, and folks are starting to think about summer clothes – specifically, what their legs will look like in a pair of shorts.

Business will ramp up along with the outdoor temperatures, but you might be wondering how you can take advantage of the increased business and increase your income even more.

If you haven’t considered it before, consider now adding promotion of nutritional supplements to your list of normal services. Watch your revenue grow with little to no effort on your part. If you promote supplements that really work, they practically sell themselves.

Taking Advantage of the Weather in Every Way You Can

You’ve just been in a business slump, because half of the clients who signed up with you the first week of January dropped out by February. New Years’ Resolutions go about as far as your flabby, out-of-shape client can throw a piano.

But he knows his piano-throwing ability is on the weak side, and he wants to not only throw it farther, but look good doing it. He knows those arms won’t be hidden under sweatshirts much longer, and he’s thinking seriously about enlisting your services. You know spring is one of your best business seasons, because clients want to look good in their summer clothes. You should be taking advantage of the weather in every way you can, and the sooner, the better.

Kick-Start Swimsuit Season with Your Spring Fitness Boot Camp

Posted By Casey Kaldal On March 17th, 2010

bikini-sand-beachCertain times of the year are golden opportunities to gain new clients in your personal trainer business. Spring is one of those golden opportunities. Fitness boot camps can be a great way to bring new potential clients in the door.

Holding a Fitness Boot Camp Just in Time for Summer

As you polish up that business plan for the next six months or so, what does summer look like?

People have more energy, their moods are better, and they are motivated to look good in swimsuits. They’re ready to hit the gym. You need to be ready to hold open the door and let them in. And what better way to make them notice the door than to hold a successful fitness boot camp.

The more clients who walk through your door in the first place, the more long-term clients you’ll land. That’s because they’ll see what an awesome personal trainer you are. They’ll see that with you, they meet their fitness goals. Since your service sells itself once clients get to know you, the trick is getting them in the door in the first place.

Spring into Fitness with Your Personal Trainer Business

Posted By Casey Kaldal On March 15th, 2010

fat-office-workerShe has a cruise scheduled in July. He joined the beach volleyball team for the summer. Both are feeling a little soft around the middle and a little nervous about putting on the swimsuit.

Why? Because their New Year’s Resolutions lasted a week or two, and then it was back to margaritas and tortilla chips at the neighborhood Mexican place. The treadmill that he bought her for Christmas has been collecting dust since the first of February.

On the bright side, the treadmill turned out to be the perfect place to hang clothes that they were too lazy to put away after the washing.

Helping Clients Meet their Fitness Goals

You’re a personal trainer, and you do it because, God love you, you like helping people meet their goals. There’s some kind of sick satisfaction in watching them get excited when the scale or the tape measure shows progress. It’s that progress they’ve been longing for, and you helped them achieve it. Sweet!

Overcoming the Winter Funk with Health and Nutrition

Posted By Casey Kaldal On March 12th, 2010

winter-blues-unhappy-faceIt started with Thanksgiving, and it’s been downhill ever since. No, I’m not talking about skiing, although I was pretty psyched along with the rest of the United States when Lindsey Vonn became the first American woman to win the downhill event.

Thanks to her general athleticism and that little thing called Olympic competition, I’m pretty sure she hasn’t been binge eating for the last four months. Unfortunately, or fortunately for you, a large number of non-athletes (also known as potential clients) can’t say the same.

When the Winter Blues Set In

The holidays came along, and there were cookies and pie and fruitcake. There were chips and candy on coffee tables as families gathered on the couches in front of football games on 56-inch high-definition televisions with fifteen-hundred-channel cable services. Then on New Year’s Day, the world made a global commitment to eat healthier, swearing off bad foods for 2010 and beyond.

But then the snows came, and they all found themselves trapped in our houses with leftover chocolate and bottles of wine. The winter blues set in, and they didn’t feel like doing anything at all. They curled up in front of the fireplace – or their 56-inch high-definition televisions with fifteen-hundred-channel cable services – and felt sorry for themselves.

How Early Is Too Early To Lift Weights?

Posted By Casey Kaldal On March 10th, 2010

romanian-giuliano-stroeWhen it comes to exercise, typically more is better. The average person does not exercise nearly enough, if they did you would probably be out of a job.

But what about kids? Can kids play to much?

Apparently these kids did not get the memo to play with there friends outside.

Take a look at some these videos and let me know what you think.

Is this healthy? Should parents push kids this hard? Did these parents not accomplish something in there own life and are vicariously living through there children’s lives.

What are your thought? Great athleticism or child abuse?

Have you ever had a parent approach you to train a kid that was too young?

Personal Trainer Nutrition Marketing: Ideas for Your Fitness Business

Posted By Casey Kaldal On March 8th, 2010

african-personal-trainer-with-cacasianWhat makes you the personal trainer that clients come to see? You’re a personal trainer in a market saturated with probably dozens of local personal trainers.

What sets you apart?

If you don’t have an answer to the question, you might want to spend some time thinking about it. And for your reading enjoyment, here’s one idea.

Visions of Sugarplums Danced in Their Heads

You guide clients in their exercise regimes. You motivate them. You help them meet your goals.

If you’re good, you might even tell your clients what to eat. And if you’re anything like me, you’re probably recommending a high quality, organic, raw, sprouted rice protein shake with almond butter and flax seed oil, and a steaming cup of organic, fair-trade coffee for breakfast.

Duh. Isn’t that what we all want for breakfast?

Here’s the thing: your clients are not personal trainers. If they were, they wouldn’t need a personal trainer. With that in mind, you have to step back and think like a client instead of a personal trainer. The majority of your clients are motivated by their goals.

They have a vision of their final state. But they also have visions of sugarplums dancing in their head. And by sugarplums, I mean beer, wings, and chocolate. Read more…
