Ideas To Start And Build Your Fitness Business
There are so many ways to start & build your fitness business without spending a lot of money!
Set Up a Website
In this day and age, customers expect any professional business to have a web presence. If you know how to create one yourself that’s GREAT, but if not, here are some alternative ideas to save you money.
- Do you know any kids or college students? Most kids nowadays know how to easily set up a basic website and would probably be willing to help you for $100 or less. Make sure you review their work before they upload it to the internet.
- You could make your own site using easy templates such as homestead.com or buildyoursite.com. These websites can walk you through how to create your first web site and publish it to the web. Personally I think wordpress is the easiest and most profitable way to build a website.
Make sure your website has information on what services you offer, and is geared towards your target audience. It should contain your contact information, pricing options, and hours of availability.
Once your website is up and you’re happy with it, submit it to the major search engines such as Yahoo! and Google. Include any cities or areas that you would like to cover, and use key words that correspond to how your target audience would search. For example, NYC weight loss, NYC personal training, NYC personal trainers, weight loss programs, exercise program Queens, boot camp Brooklyn, and so on.
Low Cost Marketing Tips
You can advertise your fitness business for free by placing a classified ad on Craiglist. You should post at least weekly to keep your ads fresh. Include the same kind of key words as above so different searches will find your business in the results.
You can have business cards printed up quite inexpensively by using sites such as VistaPrint.com. You can upload a design that matches your new website, or you can choose from the many templates they have available. Post these everywhere – from grocery stores to the post office, and public park rest rooms to restaurants.
If there are large corporations in your area, talk to their HR department about offering a free demo class after work to their employees. Emphasize that the benefits of healthier employees will improve their employees’ health, reducing use of personal time and health benefits due to illness (i.e. saving their company money!!). If the employees like your demo, then you can offer your ongoing services.
Check your local newspapers regularly to find out if there are any health-related events or expos going on in your area. Even if you don’t have money to rent a booth for the entire event, make sure you go and have your business cards ready – your target audience will be there, and you didn’t even have to pay for the advertising!
