Fitness Marketing Strategy: Dont Fear “No”
If you want to do something well, you learn how to do it. You’d think it would be easy to get clients when you’re doing the best job you can do for them. The professional attitude isn’t what attracts clients, though it helps you keep them. How you market yourself closes the deal.
Beginning a business takes time and it isn’t easy to do. It’s easy to get bogged down in money and tax issues. Take a step outside yourself and think about the importance of marketing yourself.
Show your excitement.
First, make sure your excitement about what you do comes through. People respond to the positive feelings and energy. Your business depends on you.
Don’t be afraid of a no.
Next, accept that some people will tell you no. No is a word a lot of people start with when you try to sell them something. The thing is, you need to ask and you can’t be afraid to hear a no. Once you ask, your likelihood of hearing a yes increases dramatically. It isn’t enough to say you’re beginning a personal trainer business – ask your friends, family, acquaintances if they need your help and if they know someone who needs it.
Talk about your trainer business.
Bring up your business so people know what you do. When you address a group of people or meet a new group of friends, tell them you’re a personal trainer. Let them hear about your business and your enthusiasm for it.
Get the ‘no’ out of the way so people can say ‘yes.’
A good idea for beginners is to make a sheet with the word ‘no’ written on it fifty times. Every time someone says no to you in your business, mark one off the sheet. The idea is to get yourself out there, learn to talk to people, and walk away completing something even if you didn’t make the sale this time.
By the time the sheet has been marked out, you’ll have heard yes from some of them. You will have proved to yourself there is no fear in a no. You’ll probably be surprised when some of them agree to what you offer, as well. It’s not easy to judge whether or not there is a need for your services until you ask.
Keep asking for what you want.
The asking is another key part of the fitness marketing strategy. Be direct. Be confident. Be energetic. Be yourself.
Break the fear of rejection. It makes it easier for someone to accept your offer. It brings in referrals and positive energy. That kind of confidence brings more people to say yes to you.
Clients and referrals show more interest to people with energy. Take care of yourself enough to share that with them, and you’ll have the right attitude for them to boost your business.
