There are quite a few benefits to be gained from using the Forerunner 305 during your workout regime. You can get a more accurate assessment on your speed when compared to the hills and turns of your road with the new Garmin Training Center application for your computer. It also comes with a Virtual Opponent, which gives you the remarkable option of racing against yourself, as it evaluates current data with that from a previous workout on the same route. You can evaluate how you’re doing in comparison to prior exercises on the easy-to-read display, giving you comprehensive knowledge of your progress and level of improvement.
There are a few different accessories that can be integrated with the 305 as well, including an optional foot pad for those who wish to exercise where GPS reception may not be available, and a cadence sensor for bicyclists. The foot pads will let you know, without need of GPS signal strength, how many calories you’re burning and how fast you’re going, so there’s no concern. You can utilize the cadence sensor when you’re riding your bicycle to track your progress without the requirement for GPS; there’s even a feature to let you know if you’re cycling too quickly or too slowly for your predetermined rates, warning you so you can work harder.
The heart rate monitor, that is included with the Forerunner 305 and not with the 205, can be set to alert you when you are outside your preset range. With this application you are able to set individualized heart rate targets for each segment of your exercise routine. You’ll receive alarms when you fall outside the preset parameters, making you improve.
A charging station/docking device accompanies the unit, allowing you to either upload your workout information to a computer for evaluation or to recharge the unit before your next workout.
