Considerations When Buying a Home Treadmill

Guest Post

Home treadmills are extremely common pieces of exercise equipment which are easily used and give a good cardiovascular workout. Treadmills that are electric powered are the most common but also available are self powered treadmills. Cheaper treadmills can be found for around $200 although, for better value and to ensure the treadmill lasts reasonable long, it would be better if you to buy a better quality treadmill.

A big advantage of having a home treadmill, of course, is that you won’t need to leave your home for a gym. You’ll particularly be grateful for this through the winter in the dark, cold evenings. It is much pleasanter to work out in the warmth of your own home! Another benefit is that you are able watch TV, read or listen to music during your workout which will prevent you from getting bored.

Choosing a Home Treadmill

While, as already mentioned, treadmills can be found for under $200  they won’t be good quality and won’t have most of the extras of better quality models. You also need to look at the features available, including the range of programs as a wider choice will give you a more varied workout workout and can prevent boredom. A built in heart rate monitor is useful to allow you to monitor the extent of cardio training. Although it may be tempting to select a less expensive machine this could be a false economy over the long term since it will not probably not give a good workout or last very long. A further thing to think about is how many people will be using the home treadmill and how much they weight. Consider spending about 00 for a treadmill to be used by two joggers and for two serious runners around $2500.

Also consider the weight maximum of the treadmill you are considering purchasing. Some of the treadmill manufacturers overemphasize their weight limits hence, particularly if you are overweight, buy a treadmill that has a maximum weight limit than your actual weight. Take into consideration that, even though you only intend to walk on the treadmill, as your fitness improves you possibly will start to workout much more vigorously. If you bought a cheap home treadmill you may need to purchase an alternative one that is better for your improved fitness! You would be better off buying a better quality machine in the first place.

In Conclusion

Purchasing a home treadmill may not be as easy as simply going to the mall and picking one out. Carefully think about the way you’ll be using your treadmill and what extra features you will need. Take care that you select one that will last and is able to endure the type of exercising you’ll be doing.
